The Reed Newton Family
From humble beginnings in the American South to a family that spans generations and miles — this is the story of the Reed Newton family.
"Rooted in love. Bound by blood. Growing together."
— The Reed Newton Family Motto
Who We Are
The Reed Newton family is a tapestry woven from strength, sacrifice, joy, and unwavering love. We are doctors and teachers, farmers and artists, dreamers and builders. We are spread across this country — but no matter where life has taken us, we remain one family.
Our reunions are more than events. They are living history — a chance for the youngest members to hear the stories of those who came before, and for the elders to see their legacy walking, laughing, and thriving in the next generation.
Through the Years
The Reed Newton family traces its roots to the American South through a rich ancestral path. Our lineage includes Jack Reed, Abram Barnwell, Nathan Reed, Abbie Bonner, Robert Newton, Tina Jordan, James Newton, and Annie Moore — the men and women whose strength, faith, and perseverance planted the seed of a family that would grow and flourish for generations to come.
The Reed Newton name spread across Georgia and neighboring states, with deep roots in Leary, Georgia. As the family grew and flourished, the ties to the South remained strong — woven into every holiday gathering and Sunday dinner.
The post-war era saw the Reed Newton family come into its own. Cousins, aunts, and uncles gathered every summer for informal reunions that became the stuff of legend. These gatherings were the foundation of the tradition we carry on today.
The first Reed Newton Family Reunion was held in Orlando, Florida on Orange Blossom Trail. The historic gathering was hosted by Naomi McCoy Reed (daughter of George Reed & Dixie Newton), Willie Perry Carswell, and Eddie B Reid — and from that moment, the tradition of coming together as a family was born.
With each passing decade, the reunions grew larger and more vibrant. New generations were introduced to family elders, stories were recorded, and the family tree expanded. The Reed Newton name became synonymous with resilience, love, and community.
Now, we gather once more — this time in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia. The 2027 Reed Newton Family Reunion promises to be the most memorable yet, as we honor our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to the future together.
